Materials were collected by Katherine Litz throughout her career,and given to Bruce King who served as the collection's custodian until 1985. The collection reflects the career of Litz as a performer, teacher, choreographer, and fund-raiser. Includes multi-format materials documenting the professional career of Katherine Litz from her earliest appearances to her last performances, and spans the years of 1927-1982. The collection consists of: notebooks, correspondence, typescripts, resumes and biographical information, newspaper clippings, materials for grant applications, performance programs and fliers, miscellaneous publications, other miscellaneous material, professional and personal photographic materials, and a series of materials related to the career of Bruce King and the Bruce King Dance Company.

Katherine Litz, modern dancer, teacher and choreographer, was born on July 26 1912 in Denver, Colorado. She studied dance with Martha Graham, Hanya Holm, Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman. She performed with the Humphrey-Weidman Concert Company and with Agnes DeMille. During the 1940s she danced in Broadway musicals and choreographed a section of "Ballet Ballads."
